WiLab is the National Laboratory of Wireless Communications of CNIT (National InterUniversity Consortium for Telecommunications). WiLab has been founded in February 2020 and includes more than 100 professors, researchers, Ph.D students and collaborators working together with industry stakeholders on plenty of national and international projects. WiLab mainly pursues both theoretical and experimental research activities geared towards proof of concepts on the following topics: Internet of Things, Mobile Radio Networks (4G/5G/6G), Vehicular Communications, Localization and Tracking, Applied Artificial Intelligence for Wireless Communications. At the same time, WiLab has objectives of scientific dissemination and public engagement.
WiLab is looking for qualified experts in 5G and Internet of Things technologies for the role of research associate in the field of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN). The activity will be carried out in the context of the Industrial Networks Project, which is part of the RESTART Program, financed by the National Recovery and
Resilience Plan. He/she will report to the WiLab Area Leaders and WiLab Director, and will work closely with other WiLab researchers and other external partners of the project.
Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate should be familiar with communication standards, network protocols and architectures.
In this role, the candidate will:
develop O-RAN compliant network simulator; work on innovative O-RAN x/rApps logics; validate the identified solutions on real testbeds;
The candidate will also occasionally travel to different WiLab sites for support.
Competence Requirements Hard Skills:
Researcher (O-RAN) 1
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering
- Telecommunications
- Computer Science (or equivalent)
- good knowledge of English
- past experience in simulator developments (e.g., Matlab, Python)
- confidence in the exploitation of git-based platforms (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, GitKraken).
Optional appreciated competences:
- participation/leadership in European Projects
- publications in journal and conferences (e.g., IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, ICC, Globecom)
- knowledge of artificial intelligence tools and algorithms
- knowledge of 3GPP standards
- knowledge of O-RAN Alliance documentation
- past recognized experience with ns-3
- good knowledge of Italian language.
